We are amazed how little known the Balea Falls are. It’s never crowded and often you will have the whole place to yourself. The landscape is beautiful, and the falls are spectacular. Bring your bathing suit, there is a deep pool of cool water at the bottom where you can swim and enjoy. The walk in and out is a bit challenging and it is recommended that you be in reasonable shape and able to climb steep hills. There is a breathtaking view when crossing the top of the falls. Don’t stand too close to the edge! There are footholds or stairs most of the way, but can still be a bit challenging. But so worth it when you arrive. Bring a lunch. There is a cute bamboo cottage that overseas the cottage which is usually available at no charge.
